Are the timing needs different with two otherwise identical cars with really different set-ups?
For instance one GSR with stock plugs, wires, intake, 6psi compared to another GSR with CAI or short ram at 10 psi, aftemartket wires, larger throttle body?
Does a preset BTC address the timing needs of each set-up? I've been wondering about this for awhile.

Let me alter my question somewhat, in what I mean is, would the timing curve likely be different for those two cars. (Cause I realize in the second car the overall timing might have to be retarded some, but what I'm wondering about is whether different set-up parts on these same cars change the curve requirtments) Hopefully, that's clear now

I would think that the modifications would matter + the grade of fuel. So yes, I think, the timing settings will differ greatly on different setups

No, you will need to adjust the timing and amount of retard for your car. Good rule of thumb. Run as much timing as you can with out pinging. Once the pinging starts, retard timing more.
